Some interesting items I have looked at while I've been working at the library is a newspaper over 120 years old. The Messenger Inquirer was actually named The Owensboro Messenger and had a couple other names even before that. Anyways, while reading the newspaper I noticed less ads. If there were any ads on the paper, it would go something like this. "Hurt back? Visit Dr. mybackhurts to get your back checked out!"
The ads were incredibly simple and were usually just a small text box at the bottom of the paper. I'm not sure what that says about society then and now, but I do know that they cared more about the news rather than advertisements.

Information learned
Some information I've learned from working at the library mainly relating to Kentucky and the Kentucky Room.
- Our county is actually spelled wrong. Daviess is actually supposed to be spelled Daveiss like the other two counties in Indiana and Illinois.
- In old newspapers, instead of the column being named obituaries, it was actually called the mortuary.
- When people left town or came into town, they would actually place who went where under the Local Laconics.

Episode: Pictures?
So I know I've been slacking with my blog postin' and what not so today I have some pictures to show.
The first picture is a picture that someone painted a picture on old books.
The second picture is just a massive library that I thought was interesting.
Someone recently told me that I worked in a building full of rotting trees. I could only agree.u

Episode 2: Locations
Here are some locations that I have had to look up. These are the ones that probably shouldn't be asked at a library.
- A Hospital in California
- A train station in New York
- Some place in France?
I'll finish this later....

Episode 1 : It starts
Today is the first day of my blog and the first time you will get to enjoy some of the questions that I get while working at the library. The questions that I get aren't something you would think would be asked at the library, but let me tell you, I get them all the time.
So now ... it starts.
One question that I got was actually on the phone, so as usual, I answered the phone and gave my usual response. "Information can I help you?"
A lady replied with, "Yes, I'd like to know what the square root of 377 is multiplied by x cubed." "Oh, and I need to know what x is."
After hearing this I was honestly dumbfounded. I set the phone down and just sat there for a second looking at my coworker with a look of stupidity. I then picked the phone back up only to find that the person calling had hung-up. Why would someone ask the library for this, I really don't know.
The only thing I can say about this is I got lucky this time. Other, not so much.
